The Ballad of the YellaFella

To celebrate YellaWood’s 50th anniversary, I created a backstory for their iconic character, the YellaFella. In TV spots, Jimmy Rane, YellaWood’s founder, played the character to comedic effect. For this project, my goal was to craft a lore around the idea of the YellaFella that felt true to the brand’s core values. I opted to use the ballad form because of its history as a storytelling poem.

YellaWood’s core values are Duty, Honor and Country, so when the pandemic hit, they wanted to send a hopeful message to their audience that would reflect these tenets and and communicate that we could get through this trying time together.
