The Fennec

When a new restaurant/bar/entertainment venue/event space concept came to Birmingham, we were tasked with creating a brand identity that embodied the soul of a honky-tonk, the sophistication of an intimate concert hall, and the aesthetic feel of a desert saloon. Drawing inspiration from the fennec fox, we leaned into the creature’s oversized ears (better to hear live music with), nocturnal nature (read: an active night life), and lively social habits to name the whole establishment and main restaurant The Fennec. We also named The Foxhole Lounge, a speakeasy-style upscale cocktail bar inside The Fennec, as well as the cocktails on the grand opening menu. To create a lore around The Fennec, I wrote the below story, which is also featured on the walls inside the venue.

I also wrote The Fennec’s tagline, copy for their website, and copy for additional branding collateral, like the coasters below.
